Andrea’s combination of a challenging class, and a great sense of humor are unique, intelligent, and always leave me feeling better when I leave than when I arrived. She is an amazing teacher and I love her class. – Heather Graham, actress

Growing up in Santa Cruz, CA Andrea Marcum’s earliest career aspiration was to be a fairy-princess. While the other kids at her Montessori school were inside acquiring math skills, she dressed up in frilly costumes and sang on the swings outside. Years later, still lacking math ability, and in search of a sensible career, she moved south to attend USC, and stumbled into her first yoga class in the early 90’s at the local gym.

Since then, Andrea has studied with some of the best, including Annie Carpenter, Tim Miller, Maty Ezraty and Vinnie Marino. She enjoys many styles of yoga, but it’s the sweaty intensity of vinyasa that she finds herself most drawn to. Andrea’s class is a rigorous but intelligent flow, with an emphasis on alignment and equal parts sweat and laughter. She proudly opened U Studio Yoga in Los Angeles April 1, 2006.

Andrea is a Lululemon Ambassador. Her articles have appeared in ORIGIN Magazine, Gaiam Life, JetWings Magazine, Lululemon’s Official Blog, Elephant Journal, MindBodyGreen and others. She is currently working on a book.

Creativity and a sense of imagination seem to run in the Marcum family. Andrea is the sister of Art Marcum, screenwriter of Iron Man, who regularly attends her classes. “My sister didn’t really pick on me as a kid, but she’s making up for it now. Her class whips you into shape and leads you to that yoga euphoria. I’m actually proud to say that my sister can kick my ass”.

With no sensible career in sight, Andrea relishes watching the transformation in her students that yoga brings to their bodies, minds and lives– both in the classroom and on the retreats she leads around the world.
